The Office: Crown Street, Aberdeen

IT CAN be hard to find a quiet pub for some grub on a Friday night.
But entering The Office from the rowdy street felt like stepping into a library.
The peaceful lull was only broken now and again by laughter from the bar.
After studying the menu, we decided to share nachos (£5.95) for a starter.
The dish was delicious, with melted cheese spilling over the tonne of nachos.
To my delight, there was a huge amount of jalapeno peppers – which is rare in pub nachos.
Our only gripe was that the salsa and sour cream came in tiny tubs on the side and were quickly finished. Strangely, the starter and main courses were served at the same time, so my chicken curry, (£7.45), was a little cool by the time I started eating it.
Again the portion was huge, with the curry in the centre and the rice nicely presented as a ring around it.
The curry was creamy, with a gentle kick and the mix of mange tout, onions and red peppers made it all the more satisfying.
My friend’s macaroni (£5.95) was less of a delight. After the delicious layer of cheese on top, the macaroni was drowned in grease.
However, she salvaged it and enjoyed the crispy but not dry garlic bread.
