ABERDEEN FC today showed true grit in a bid to ensure their Scottish cup tie with Hearts goes ahead.

The Pittodrie players were out in force shovelling snow and laying grit in a bid to clear the area around the ground.

Aberdeen FC boss Mark McGhee even pitched in, driving a tractor around the car park to ensure the fourth round clash gets the go ahead.

Despite plummeting temperatures and snow the Pittodrie surface is playable.

But the areas surrounding the ground need to be given the all clear for the fourth round clash.
