PETERHEAD have offered striker John Stewart a new deal until the end of the season.
The former Aberdeen FC hitman’s existing short-term contract at Balmoor expires tomorrow.
Airdrie-based Stewart had hoped to discuss his future face-to-face with Blue Toon boss Neale Cooper after this afternoon’s clash against East Fife.
But the Division Two game was called off due to a frozen pitch.
Cooper said: “I have spoken to John and he will think about it.
“There is still a chance he could stay if he agrees to what we have offered.
“We have offered him a deal until the end of the season.”
Stewart signed for Peterhead in October after impressing as a trialist having been allowed to leave previous employers Ross County.
The striker hit crucial goals in narrow, hard-fought victories over Stirling Albion and East Fife.
But he has since failed to score in his last four games.
