THOUSANDS of shoppers were expected to swarm to Aberdeen shops today as the Boxing Day sales kicked off.
And some people started queuing from 4.30am today to get their hands on bargains.
The first to open their doors, at 7am, were Aberdeen’s Next stores.
Scores of shoppers formed a queue outside the high street shop at the Bon Accord and St Nicholas Centres.
At the front of the queue was Kathleen McGhee, 41, from Torry.
The full-time mum was waiting with her daughter Kathleen, 23, and 19-month-old granddaughter, Ellie-Louise McCafferty.
Kathleen said: “We got up really early and started queuing outside the centre at 4.30am.
“It’s really good of the centre to let us in so early out of the cold. We are excited as we want to buy lots of kids clothes today.
“We’ve queued to get into Next a couple of times on Boxing Day and it’s great having the big store open in the Bon Accord and St Nicholas Centres.”
Daughter Kathleen, 23, added: “We will be shopping all day and we will definitely be having a look for ourselves after we have picked out the kids’ clothes in Next.”
Another shopper, Betty Benard, 28, from Aberdeen city centre was second in the queue.
The law student said: “I’m hoping to buy some nice work clothes. “It’s the first time I have turned up this early for the sales. Everywhere is going to be sale sale sale.”
