Video: Chaos for Aberdeen as winter blasts in

Snow closes Anderson Drive

Published: 22/12/2009

THOUSANDS of people were caught in roads chaos today as the region was hit by the country’s heaviest snowfall.

More than two inches (6cm) fell in the space of six hours, creating mayhem on Aberdeen roads.

North Anderson Drive was blocked off at the notorious Haudagain roundabout after lorries became stuck.

South Anderson Drive at Bridge of Dee was also closed for a time as cars became stuck in the heavy snow.

A Met Office spokesman said there had been a “risk” of snow, but it failed to foresee the huge amount that fell around the city.

The bad weather saw motorists stuck in huge jams across Aberdeen, many grinding to a halt at traffic lights.
