Richie win is a boost for all Scots pros

Ramsay can be role model, says SGU coach

SCOTTISH Golf Union coach Ian Rae hopes that Richie Ramsay’s win in the South African Open will prove to be a boost for Scotland’s other young professional golfers.

Rae, the SGU national coach who has worked with Aberdeen’s Ramsay throughout his amateur and professional career, said: “Richie has been brought up playing with players like Andrew McArthur, Eric Ramsay, Lloyd Saltman and George Murray, so this win can only be good news for the rest of the guys.

“They must be thinking they can do the same now.

“We need role models at the top.

“We need people to be doing well and now that’s starting to happen.”
