SFA in swoop for Dundee United’s Levein

Craig is target as Scotland boss

CRAIG Levein will today be asked if he wants to become the new Scotland boss.

Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson confirmed the SFA have asked for permission to speak to Levein about succeeding George Burley as national coach.

Thompson has yet to agree to that request because he wants Levein to stay at Tannadice.

Thompson said: “I can confirm we have received an approach from the SFA to speak to Craig.

“But so far I have not given them permission.

“It’s something Craig and I are obviously going to discuss before the day is out, but you can be sure we will do all we can to keep him here.

“He is someone we rate very highly as a person and a manager and we want him to continue the good work he is doing at Dundee United.”
