Helen Mirren nominated for Golden Globe

BRITAIN’S leading ladies pose the best chance of UK success at the Golden Globes.

Helen Mirren, Emily Blunt and Carey Mulligan were all named in the short-list for best actress in a drama, while Colin Firth was given a nod in the male category.

Elsewhere it was a successful day for George Clooney’s Up In The Air, with the film receiving six nominations including best motion picture.

And Hugh Laurie was nominated in the best actor in a TV drama section.

The event will be hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais.
