PETERHEAD assistant boss Andy Dornan today backed Neale Cooper to turn things around for the Blue Toon.

The Balmoor side have lost four league games on the spin, following their Brechin bashing.

Cooper’s young team now lie sixth in Division Two, and five points off a play-off place.

Dornan admits he is frustrated by the Blue Toon’s recent shortcomings, but insists Cooper can get their promotion bid back on track.

“Neale will turn it around,” he said.

“We’re both very frustrated because the players just aren’t performing at the moment.

“It’s up to Neale, myself and the players to sort it out because four defeats in a row just isn’t good enough.

“We’re looking at what we do in training to see if we’re doing anything different, but we’re not.

“The players just need to be playing a lot better.”

Dornan also fired a warning to the underperforming members of the Blue Toon squad that they will need to shape up or ship out.

He has also thrown down the gauntlet to the young players in the squad to prove they are capable of playing at a higher level.

He said: “Maybe we have to look at bringing in some players in January.

“We will have to see what we have to work with, but that is what we’re looking at just now.”
