Manchurian: Causewayend, Aberdeen

ANY takeaway that doesn’t do home delivery could be asking for trouble.
But having eaten in the adjacent restaurant before, my girlfriend and I were confident the food at the Manchurian would be well worth the walk.
We decided to share two starters of salt and chilli squid (£4) and Thai spring rolls (£2.50).
The squid was a delight, with the strong garlic and chilli flavours not spoiling the subtler tones of the tender seafood.
The bite-sized spring rolls were equally lip-smacking, with a perfectly-crispy coating and a tangy vinegar-and-chilli sauce to dunk them in.
My Szechuan king prawn (£5.70) with fried rice (£1.80) was a solid effort, packed with plenty of the giant critters and fresh veg bathing in a rich sauce.
Tasty as my dish was, I couldn’t help casting envious glances at my girlfriend’s shredded crispy chilli chicken (£5.70), also with fried rice.
The pieces of chicken in a sticky and spicy sauce were giving off a wonderful smell, and I was glad I managed to swipe a bit off her plate.
The Manchurian may not bring the food to your home, but it most certainly delivers.
