MARTIN Allan today rocked Keith by quitting as manager.
Maroons skipper Darren Still, who runs the club’s under-21 side, is favourite to take over the role.
Keith chairman Sandy Stables today confirmed they hope to appoint a new boss next week.
Allan’s assistant, Kenny Taylor, and coach Sandy McNaughton will also be leaving Kynoch Park.
Stables admitted the departure of Allan, who will remain in charge for tomorrow’s visit to Inverurie Locos, is a big blow.
He said: “We are obviously very disappointed, but we fully understand his reasoning.
“Martin decided to do it because of business commitments.”
“He took over the running of Bon Accord Glass last year and just doesn’t have the time anymore.
“He has been a very successful manager for the club and will be a big loss for us.”
Allan took over as the boss of Keith in 1996, replacing Jim Hamilton.
The former Montrose player brought numerous trophies to Kynoch Park over the next 13 years, including two Highland League championships in 2000 and 2007.
Allan also won one Qualifying Cup, two League Cups and four Aberdeenshire Shields.
The Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup was the only piece of silverware missing from Allan’s collection, but Keith finally lifted that trophy last season.
