A WOMAN gave birth to a baby girl four weeks early after being involved in a crash on an Aberdeen-bound bus.
The mum, who was understood to have been 35 weeks pregnant, had to be rushed to hospital for an emergency caesarean section after the crash.
Police today said the baby and her mother were “doing well” after the smash, between a Mercedes van and a Stagecoach Bluebird bus.
Two men, from Dundee, had to be cut free from a Wicked Wheels van after the accident, which happened at the Bruntland Road junction with the A90 at Portlethen, five miles south of Aberdeen.
The woman, from Laurencekirk, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Another man from Aberdeen, who had been on the bus, was also taken to hospital.
It was initially believed two of the people had suffered life-threatening injuries, but today police said none of the motorists were seriously hurt.
The bus was turning right into Portlethen on its way from Stonehaven to Aberdeen just before 5.30pm.
The southbound carriageway was closed for several hours, creating massive tailbacks for commuters.
Bluebird operations director George Devine said: “We are carrying out an internal investigation and assisting the police any way we can.”
He said he did not know how many passengers were on the bus.
Mr Devine said the bus driver was “shocked” but unhurt.
Dave Cuthbert, 66, a retired manager, who lives in a house next to the junction said it was an accident blackspot.
