LOIRSTON Manor in Cove is not an easy place to buy a house.
The reason? People love living there so much that ongce they settle in, they are often there for life.
But now there’s a chance to join them as one resident packs up after more than two decades.
Linda Linford, 51, said: “This is a big four or five bedroom house with a huge garden.
“It’s really a family home and I’m finding now it’s much too big for just me.
“It’s time for me to downsize and give it up to a family who will appreciate it more.”
All the houses in the street have an interesting history behind them.
They were built at the end of the 1970s, when the former fishing village of Cove started to expand into the bustling suburb we know today.
And their location was once the grounds of the former Loirston manor house, from which the street takes its name.
The houses all have extremely large gardens, much bigger than those found in many newer-build properties of today.
And Linda, an HR assistant for Viking Moorings Ltd, has certainly made the most of her garden in her 21-and-a-half years there.
“Over the years I’ve had a vegetable patch and grown everything from potatoes and carrots to leeks and tomatoes,” she said.
“I’ve also got a gazebo which I put up if there’s family coming for a barbecue or something and there’s still plenty of space for children to run around and play.
“But one of the benefits for a family who were looking to extend this house, is that you could do so easily without encroaching on any of the neighbours and still be left with a good-sized garden.”
Overlooking the grounds is a stunning conservatory, which Linda often uses. It measures an impressive 18ft by 11ft 2in and is fitted with French doors.
And big rooms are a feature throughout the house.
The L-shaped lounge in particular is huge, with an open-plan area perfect for dining.
And the bedrooms are all good sizes, with the smallest still big enough to be considered a double.
There is also a large dining room on the ground floor which could be used as a fifth bedroom.
Cove has been a wonderful location for Linda to live, and she hopes she won’t be moving too far.
“I’m originally from Kincorth, but have been in Cove for 25 years,” she added. “I have been in this particular house for just over 21 years – so that’s not quite half my life but almost.
“The house is well situated and a five-minute walk away you’ve got the bus stop on your doorstep, as well as shops. If you’ve got kids, just around the corner is the nursery and primary school,” Linda said.
“What I’d really love now is to see a family settle in here because it would be just perfect for them.”
