A MAN has appeared in court after an Aberdeen FC fan wearing a sheep costume caught fire.

Peter Wallace, 23, is accused of culpable and reckless conduct in connection with the alleged incident on a train.

A 24-year-old Aberdeen FC fan suffered serious burns after his fancy dress costume caught fire.

Wallace, who was listed in court papers as living in St Andrews, appeared in private before Sheriff James Williamson at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday

Wallace made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

The Aberdeen FC fan was travelling on the 6.08pm Edinburgh to Aberdeen train on Saturday evening when the alleged incident was said to have taken place.

The Aberdeen FC fan suffered serious burns to his legs and arms and was taken off the train at Kirkcaldy for hospital treatment. He was later transferred to St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

It was understood the man had been returning to Aberdeen after Saturday’s Scottish Premier League clash between Aberdeen FC and Hibs in Edinburgh.

Passengers looked on in horror as they saw the burning man run past them.

Another passenger was believed to have suffered minor injuries.

A date has yet to be fixed for Wallace’s next court appearance.

Another Dons fan was attacked in Edinburgh. The 25-year-old was left unconscious after the attack in London Road.

He was treated for head injuries at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
