Marmaris: 21 Rose Street, Aberdeen

DUE to the late-night nature of my relationship with kebab shops, I rate them on quantity not quality.
But this week’s sober feast from Rose Street’s Marmaris has made it clear what I’ve been missing.
First my friend and I chose humous (£2.50), which had a citrus tang and lashings of fresh tomato.
We also shared vegetable pakoras (£2.80) which were spicy and avoided the trap of being too dry.
Next I opted for a chicken kebab (£4.00).
The huge portion, with plenty of chargrilled chicken pieces, combined a myriad of flavours with two different sauces, a wide range of salad and cheese to top it off. My only gripe was that the bread was so hard it nearly broke my knife.
My friend opted for the vegetarian special (£5.00). Under a thick layer of cheese, she found a good range of crunchy veg in a spicy, slightly greasy, sauce with a mustard kick.
With the total coming to £14.50, we would have happily scoffed this meal in a restaurant.
