AN ABERDEEN teacher banned from the classroom for sleeping with a schoolboy is now helping the youngster with his studies.

Alison Smith, 29, was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register and struck off the teaching register after admitting having sex with the 15-year-old at her flat.

But the Evening Express can today reveal the pair have met regularly at the boy’s family home.

Smith spent four hours at his home one day this week and at least two hours the following day.

But she told the Evening Express there was nothing romantic or sexual about their relationship and the pair were “just friends”.

The boy’s mother also said the former special-needs teacher was not involved in a romantic relationship with her son, now 17.

She said: “She helps him out with his schoolwork sometimes.

“When Alison is here, I am here. I know there is nothing more to their relationship than being friends.”

In December last year at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Smith was placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service.

She previously admitted having sex with the 15-year-old boy at her Jute Street flat in 2008.

The teacher, who the court heard had left her teaching post with Aberdeen City Council, was told by a sheriff she had committed a “significant breach of trust”.

Solicitor John McLeod said Smith first confessed to members of her church, then her family, before giving the police a full account.

A spokeswoman for the procurator fiscal service in Aberdeen said the terms of Smith’s inclusion on the sex offenders’ register did not prevent her being in the company of the boy.
