Aberdeen firm sends 100 redundancy letters to staff
Bosses insist only five jobs could go

AN ABERDEEN firm has sent out redundancy letters to more than 100 staff, it was claimed today.
Bosses at Aberdeen-based iicorr said they would welcome voluntary redundancies from all areas of the business.
But the firm, based in Altens in Aberdeen, today insisted as few as five jobs were expected to go.
Roddy James, a director at iicorr, said: “We’re in a formal process at the moment. A very large contract came to an end and as a result of that we are looking at the potential loss of a small number of people – possibly less than five.”
Mr James said more than 100 letters were sent to staff but insisted this was normal practice.
The Aberdeen-based company was established in 1995 and employs more than 200 people worldwide.
Jake Molloy regional organiser of the RMT union in Aberdeen, said an impact on jobs was inevitable with the offshore industry cutting back on exploration spending and delaying projects.
“There is going to be a lot of pain for a lot of people in the months to come,” he said.
The asset management firm is a specialist in integrity, inspection and corrosion services and provides consultancy, management, engineering and operational support in the offshore industry.
The Aberdeen firm’s clients include BP, Shell, Schlumberger and Total.
