Cinnamon: Menzies Road, Aberdeen

THE last time I got a takeaway from Cinnamon I had to pick it up from the Union Street restaurant.

Luckily for me, the takeaway arm of the business now delivers, so the only effort I had to put in was figuring out what to order.

To start we shared the ginger and cinnamon tiger prawns (£5.20) and onion bhajis (£2.95).

Even though they’d been driven halfway across Aberdeen, the monster prawns were still deliciously soft and the bhaji, although not a patch on those served “live” in the restaurant, were tasty enough. My balti main course (£7.95) disappointed however, not least because it contained chicken instead of the ordered lamb and the accompanying sauce was lacklustre and lacked texture.

Luckily for me though, my wife was in a generous mood and allowed me to share her green chilli-flecked chicken zalfrezi (£7.95), which was so good I forgot all about the balti blunder.

With a couple of popadoms and a soft garlic naan to mop our plates, our final bill came to £26.
