The Three Lums: Lewis Road, Sheddocksley

AFTER a long day at work cooking seemed like an awful strenuous task.

And someone had told me about a cracking wee pub just minutes from the office.

So my pal and I headed to the Three Lums for some grub.

And we were astounded by the vast choice and tiny prices.

For my main I opted for the BBQ stack burger.

A juicy burger was topped with bacon, cheese and smoky sauce.

The filling meal was served with chips and coleslaw and was packed full of flavour.

My friend opted for the tipsy steak pie.

Chunks of tasty beef were swathed in a boozy gravy then cased in crumbly shortcrust pastry.

Served with chips and a pile of peas, my friend was impressed with the above-average pub grub.

Buying two meals at once meant a special deal kicked in, so each one cost just £2.99. And the deal also meant puddings were just £2 each – at that price we could not resist.

I opted for the deliciously sweet chocolate mountain cake. An enormous slice of cake was warmed and topped with ice cream.

And my pal went for the cherry bakewell. The warming dessert was packed with marzipan flavour and drenched in creamy custard.

With a side portion of onion rings (£1.50), a couple of drinks each and a cup of coffee, the whole dinner came to just over £17.

The food might not win any Michelin stars – but the tasty fare at a bargain rate will definitely see me back.
