JOCKY Scott insists there will be no room for sentiment as he goes all out to plot Aberdeen FC’s CIS Cup downfall tonight.
Now manager of Dundee, the 61-year-old enjoyed a successful career with Aberdeen FC both as a player and assistant manager.
Backed by Aberdeen oil tycoon Calum Melville, a lifelong Dons fan, Jocky spent big in the summer transfer window.
He landed 10 new signings, as the Dark Blues were second only to Celtic in the transfer market.
Jocky is now in his third spell as manager at Dens Park and he has vowed to send his new-look side out on the attack to dump the Dons at Dens Park.
Q Aberdeen have Sone Aluko missing and Mark McGhee is new to the club. Is this a good time to play the Dons?
A No. Is there ever a good time for a First Division team to play an SPL side like Aberdeen?
After a slow start to the season, Aberdeen are doing much better now.
Mark McGhee has a lot of good players at his disposal, and they will be a very tough proposition.
Aberdeen finished fourth in the league last season.
If you take the Old Firm out of the equation, because they will always be first and second, Aberdeen finished second of the rest.
That shows how strong they are.
It will be a different situation for us to go into a game where we are not seen as favourites.
However, we are the home side and will be going all out to have a go at them.
Winning the game is all that is on our minds.
Q What were the highlights of your time at Aberdeen?
A As a player, it was winning the League Cup in 1976, when we beat Celtic 2-1 at Hampden.
That run has particularly fond memories for me because I scored a hat-trick in the semi-final in a 5-1 win over Rangers.
That was a fantastic feeling.
As a co-manager with Alex Smith (1988-1991), I won the League Cup and Scottish Cup.
I also reached another League Cup final and narrowly missed out on winning the league championship for three seasons in a row.
My time at Aberdeen was very enjoyable, but my only concern now is getting Dundee through to the next round.
