TITLE-HOLDERS Cove Rangers are happy to have Clark Bain back on the scene.
The influential midfielder was sorely missed when he was away on holiday, and was thrust straight back into the starting eleven against Buckie on Friday.
That, despite the fact he had only just returned from his trip to Las Vegas.
He said: “I got back late on the Thursday and went straight to bed before getting up for the game.
“I was pretty jet-lagged.
“The managers said to me before I came back that I would probably play with all the injuries we’ve got at the moment.
“I didn’t think I would manage 90 minutes, but I played the whole game – and scored a goal.”
In Bain’s absence, the champions have rode a potential injury crisis successfully, remaining unbeaten in the league and reaching the final of the Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup.
The former Peterhead midfielder is delighted to have returned in time for Saturday’s showpiece final, again against Gregg Carrol’s Buckie side.
“It’s good timing on my part,” he said
“I haven’t played in the quarter-final or the semi-final, so it will be good if I can play in the final.
“They are always good occasions and we can’t wait for the game.”
