ABERDEEN FC failed to make any late major signings before the transfer window closed at 5pm today.

Aberdeen FC manager Mark McGhee had revealed he was scouring the transfer market to strengthen his squad.

It was understood McGhee was looking for a right sided midfielder or striker.

With limited funds, the Aberdeen FC manager had indicated any addition could be a loan deal for a rising young player.

McGhee was looking to add to his three previous signings of defenders Jerel Ifil and Davide Grassi and goalkeeper Stuart Nelson.

But there was minimal transfer activity at Pittodrie, with no senior players joining or leaving the club.

The only new face at Pittodrie was 17-year-old striker Gilli Sorensen from Faroese side TB Tvoroyrar.

The Faroe Islands U19 striker had joined Aberdeen FC last season, but had been allowed to return home after suffering from homesickness.

Elsewhere in the SPL, Rangers completed the loan signing of French international winger Jerome Rothen, while Kilmarnock swooped to seal Celtic goalie Mark Brown on loan.

The Hoops had earlier awarded Darren O’Dea a new contract before allowing him to go on loan to Reading.

Meanwhile, down south, Tottenham and Everton were the biggest movers on the final day of dealing, with Spurs splashing out for Portsmouth winger Nico Kranjcar, while the Toffees swooped for Atletico Madrid defender Johnny Heitinga.
