PLANS to give Aberdeen a new heart are still on track – despite the collapse of The Lighthouse, a company earmarked to carry out public consultations.
Aberdeen City Council is considering three options – revamping Union Terrace Gardens, partially covering the Granite City space, or bridging the gap between Union Street, Union Terrace, Denburn Viaduct and Belmont Street.
It was hoped The Lighthouse would manage presentations and gather feedback on the Aberdeen schemes.
But The Lighthouse, the national centre for architecture and design has gone into administration.
Today Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Forum, the partnership pushing for a new Aberdeen city centre, said it was still confident the consultation on Union Terrace Gardens could be completed by the end of the year.
A Lighthouse spokeswoman said no “formal agreement” had been reached to undertake work involving Aberdeen’s Union Terrace Gardens.
