Greenfern Chinese Take-Away: Greenfern Road, Mastrick, Aberdeen

WITH tummies rumbling my boyfriend and I had been hankering after a Chinese take-away all day.

The Greenfern has plenty to choose from but we decided to stick to some old favourites.

For starters we went for the spring rolls (£2.50) and sesame prawn toast (£2.40). The toast was a bit dark but deliciously crunchy. The spring rolls were not the usual selection of small pastries but were instead enormous. A crispy covering was packed full of juicy prawns, pork and vegetables.

For the main course I went for Hong Kong-style sweet and sour chicken (£4). The meat was a little chewy but the batter was delicious and the sauce was the perfect balance of tang and fruity sweetness. My boyfriend went for the chicken fried rice (£5) – and it was one of the best I have tasted.

With a portion of rice (£1.60) and a bag of crunchy prawn crackers (£1.90) the whole lot came to a very reasonable £16.
