THIS stunning property in Netherview Road, Dyce, has been home to the Stenhouse family for the past five years.
Engineer Craig and Sinead, a pharmacist, have transformed it into a warm, welcoming home for family and friends.
Sinead, 38, said: “Before moving in we were already living in Dyce’s Victoria Street which is a very busy main road.
“With three kids we wanted to move to a bigger house with a front and back garden where they would be safe.
“We like Dyce and it was convenient for my husband’s work which used to be in Stoneywood.
“There is a good community feel about the town with amenities close by.”
When Craig and Sinead saw new houses being built they went for a closer look.
Sinead said: “We got chatting to the builders and discovered four houses were being built.
“We got in early and managed to pick the plot we wanted and change some things. In the original design the kitchen and family room were separate – we made them into one big space.”
This beautiful, detached house has provided all the indoor and outdoor space the couple needed for their growing family.
Sinead’s skills as a homemaker can be seen around the house in personal touches, such as the beautiful curtains she has made for some of the rooms.
For a family with three children, Conor, 6, Ciara, 8 and Saoirse, 10, this is a surprisingly neat and tidy home.
Sinead said: “It’s a very lived-in house but not a cluttered home as the kids are old enough to help keep it tidy.”
Although she loves her home, Sinead has always had a hankering to live in the country.
As a child she was brought up on a farm in Ireland’s beautiful countryside.
“When the family go back each summer the children love the freedom. We all enjoy the countryside and we also want to have a dog.”
She added: “We’re looking to move to somewhere around Westhill or Newmachar – not far from where we are now.
“If we could lift this house up and bring it with us we would,” said Sinead.
The wow factor in this handsome home is the elegant hall with its high ceiling.
The spacious lounge has a large bay window. Sinead said: “It’s a great room for relaxing and entertaining and the open fire makes it warm and inviting.”
French windows open into the formal dining room.
The large, open-plan dining kitchen and family room is the hub of the house and where everyone congregates during the day.
“We probably spend 90% of our time in here.
“We can all be doing our own thing and I can see what they are up to,” she said, laughing.
Sinead chose a traditional oak, fitted kitchen as she felt a modern one would date quickly.
The beautiful natural oak flooring continues into the bright and airy family room.
Double doors open into a stunning sun lounge which is perfect for relaxing.
Also on this floor is a utility room, cloakroom and a fifth bedroom.
Off the galleried upper hall is the huge master bedroom with three fitted wardrobes and an en-suite shower room. Even their super king-size bed looks lost in this huge room. The remaining three bedrooms are all very spacious with built-in wardrobes, and one has an en-suite shower room.
The family bathroom has a modern four-piece suite.
The garden was transformed with the help of Sinead’s mum Bridie.
As Craig enjoys DIY he did all the hard work, following Bridie’s planning for design layout and types of plants.
And although they will be sad to leave their lovely home, the Stenhouse family are looking forward to a new life in the country.
