ABERDEENSHIRE Amateurs outfit Dyce could be set for a welcome promotion boost.

The Division One North side were busy preparing for the new season when the collapse of Stoneywood Social Club opened up a spot in the Premier League.

The solution of the Aberdeenshire Amateur Association was to hold a play-off between Dyce and FC Geldie – the teams who finished third in Division Ones North and East.

Dyce boss Bob McIntosh said: “We were preparing for a campaign in Division One. It came as a bit of a shock to us that Stoneywood folded because they were one of the more established clubs in the league.

“So we will take whatever comes. If we go up great, but if not, we will be at the level we were preparing for.

“We’ve got a young side and if we did get into the Premier League we would just be hoping to stay in the division.”
