Sunway Chinese Take Away: Great Northern Road, Aberdeen

LIKE Scotland and the Ashes, cooking and myself just do not go together.

Which is why Sunway offers the perfect solution when I want to push thoughts of tackling the cooker to the back of my mind.

I plumped for a vegetable curry (£4) with boiled rice (£1.60) and was not disappointed.

The large portion was packed full of fresh vegetables, coated in a rich, dark sauce that packed a real punch.

Crunchy onions, red and green peppers, and a little surprise – pineapple – which brought a subtle tang to the strong curry and blended well with the fiery spices.

My friend went for her favourite of chicken curry (£4.60) with boiled rice (£1.60).

Her dish was packed with succulent chicken, swamped in a spicy sauce.

Our eyes were too big for our bellies as we failed to polish off the portion of chips (£1.70), which were perhaps a little too greasy.

A great meal at just £13.50, a real bargain, and I will certainly be back again.
