Peterhead sex abuser Divers faces life in prison
Peterhead man Divers breached order

PETERHEAD pervert Neil Divers could be locked up for the rest of his life after his abuse of children spanning more than 30 years.
A court heard that police had obtained a sexual offences prevention order to try to curb the activities of Peterhead pervert Neil Divers, 59, but he had breached the order five times.
Divers’ sordid history was revealed to a judge after he had been arrested for a sex attack on a sleeping 18-year-old youth after a drinking binge.
Divers, whose address was given as 52 Longate, Peterhead, admitted the offence at a North-east home in April this year.
He also admitted disorderly conduct by sending the teenager a letter offering him cash for sexual acts.
Advocate depute Iain McSporran told the High Court in Edinburgh that in May 2003 Divers was jailed for four years for offences against children. Some of the charges dated back to the 1970s.
In 2007 Grampian Police obtained a Sexual Offences Prevention Order imposing restrictions on where Divers could go or what he could do, including a curfew keeping him at home during hours when children were most likely to be about.
Since then Divers has been jailed five times for flouting the order.
Judge Lord Philip told Divers: “Your record indicates nothing seems to be able to stop you from offending in this way.”
The judge called for background reports which would allow him to impose an order for lifelong restriction.
This is a form of sentence which could keep Divers in prison long after he has served a minimum sentence.
Divers was remanded in custody for reports to be prepared.
