Two Aberdeen schools attacked by vandals

£1,400 of damage as windows smashed

Published:

VANDALS smashed several windows at two Aberdeen schools causing about £1,400 of damage.

The “unconnected” attacks on Marlpool Primary School, Bucksburn, and the former Kingswells Primary, on the village’s Fairley Road, saw both buildings pelted with stones.

Grampian Police’s Pc Reg Geddes, today said the Aberdeen buildings had 10 windows smashed in total – landing each Aberdeen school with repair costs of about £700 each.

He said: “We have been making door to door inquiries but have had no leads.

“We have had problems with kids hanging around Marlpool School before.

“There is underage drinking, litter and broken glass.

“We believe the incidents are unconnected as they are some distance apart.”

Four windows were smashed at the Bucksburn school and six at Kingswells.

Stones were also found among the glass at the Kingswells school on Wednesday by a janitor patrolling the abandoned site – soon to be taken over by city council activity group Adventure Aberdeen.

“This has been a deliberate act of vandalism,” Pc Geddes said.

“We are actively trying to catch those responsible.”
