LLEYTON Hewitt today backed Andy Murray to beat Andy Roddick and become the first male British player to reach the Wimbledon final since Bunny Austin in 1938.

Murray cruised into the semi-finals with a 7-5 6-3 6-2 victory over Juan Carlos Ferrero, and then had the luxury of sitting back to watch Roddick edge a five-set thriller with Hewitt.

The pair will now clash in tomorrow’s semi-finals and 2002 champion Hewitt believes Murray will come out on top.

“It’s going to be a tough one for Roddick to win,” said the Australian.
