THE North-east boss of Donald Trump’s Balmedie golf complex today said she’d get into the swing of it – by trying the sport for the first time.
Sarah Malone, who grew up in Peterhead, said she has had many invitations to play.
Sarah, 34, plans to visit top links courses like St Andrews and Carnoustie in the next few months, as well as local ones.
She said: “I want to gain a greater understanding about why people are so passionate about the game.”
Sarah said it was likely she would hit her first ball on a fairway “at one of the top local courses”.
Sarah will take up her appointment at Donald Trump’s £1 billion resort on August 3.
Mr Trump’s Menie Estate will be the site for an 18-hole course he hopes will be the “world’s best” as well as 500 houses, 950 holiday homes, and a five-star hotel.
Sarah, currently a director at the Gordon Highlanders Museum in Aberdeen, said: This project is about heritage.
“Great golf courses are like great art – they entice people to come back.”
A masterplan for the site will be published in the autumn.
As executive vice-president of Trump International Golf Links Scotland, Sarah will work with the Trump Organisation’s development director George Sorial and project director Neil Hobday to complete the course in the next few years.
Sarah, who grew up in Peterhead, said she had received “overwhelming support” since the Evening Express revealed her appointment four weeks ago.
