HARTLEPOOL midfielder Jamie McCunnie wants to resurrect a move to Aberdeen FC.
The 26-year-old was in advanced negotiations with former Aberdeen FC manager Jimmy Calderwood at the end of last season.
But any move was put in doubt when Calderwood was axed by the club.
Aberdeen FC boss Mark McGhee is understood to be keen on resurrecting the deal.
McCunnie’s agent Derek Rutherford said: “Jamie is very keen on moving to Aberdeen and we received concrete interest from Calderwood towards the end of last season.
“That deal could definitely be revived, so hopefully something will happen with the Dons.
“Jamie was flattered with Aberdeen’s interest.
“He is very positive to the situation of moving to Aberdeen as they are an established SPL club with a great reputation.
“After two years in England Jamie is ready to return to Scotland in the new season.
“He has a young family and wants to return to Scotland. Jamie has put his house in England on the open market and is already looking to relocate back to Scotland.”
The 26-year-old will be available on a free transfer after being released by English Division One side Hartlepool.
New Dons boss Mark McGhee has been informed he will have no money for transfer fees in the January transfer window.
With the loss of Lee Mair and Scott Severin this summer securing a defensive midfielder is top of McGhee’s priorities.
McCunnie can also play as a right-back, and played for four seasons as a full-back with Dundee United.
He was converted into a defensive midfielder at Ross County by then manager Alex Smith.
