A BIKER was taken to hospital today after a smash with a bus on the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road – one of the North-east’s busiest routes.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road.

The accident happened about a mile south of Balmedie, on the northbound side of the A90.

The biker was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance and police said his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

A Watermill Coaches bus and a red motorcycle were both left damaged by the smash, which happened on a dual carriageway section of the A90 near the entrance to East Aberdeenshire Golf Club.

Debris from the crash was left lying on the road, which was not closed after the incident.

A Grampian Police spokeswoman said: “We got a call at 8am about a two-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway of the A90 about three miles from Aberdeen.

“Traffic was moving slowly around the accident and visibility was down to 50 yards. The road was not closed.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a man was treated by a crew and taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Meanwhile, emergency crews were also called to another North-east smash today.

Two cars were involved in a crash on the A90 Aberdeen to Laurencekirk road, near Auchenblae, at 5.40am.

The smash, involving a black Vauxhall and beige Renault, caused minor tailbacks on the busy road.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “It was believed there were no injuries.”
