The Blue Spice: Great Northern Road, Aberdeen

I WAS having a major sulk as we ordered a selection of food from The Blue Spice.

We always share our takeaways so everyone gets a taste. But after sampling the butter chicken (£6.20) on our last visit I wanted it all to myself.

Judging by the reaction of my son and husband as they tucked into the chunks of juicy chicken in a delicious, tomatoey, flavour-packed sauce, it will be a portion each next time.

But the other dishes were just as good, particularly the Blue Spice biryani special (£6.99). The chunks of lamb were melt-in-the-mouth tender as was the chicken in this tasty, spicy rice dish, which came with a rich and tangy masala sauce on the side.

The creamy Kashmiri chicken korma (£5.75), packed with fruit, was as good as any I have tasted.

And the variety and flavours in the mixed-platter starter for two (£5.50) – it would have fed six – went down a treat. We mopped up the delicious sauces with a really yummy mango-sauce-filled Peshwari nan (£2.30) and pilau rice (£1.80).
