Man cut from wreckage after A90 crash

FOUR people were injured in car crashes on some of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s busiest roads.
A man had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car after it plunged 10ft down an embankment on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road.
Paramedics were on standby as firefighters battled for around 30 minutes to cut free the 35-year-old man from his gold Renault Clio car using cutting equipment after the crash on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road.
The three-vehicle car crash happened on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road, near Cammachmore.
A Grampian Police spokesman said the man’s injuries after the crash on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road were not life-threatening.
A woman, who was travelling in a separate car on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven, was also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance after the crash.
It was thought the woman suffered chest injuries as a result of the car crash, which happened at 4.45pm on Thursday June 18 on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road.
Traffic travelling south on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road was delayed for more than an hour as one lane of the road was blocked as the Clio was moved.
Vehicles queued to the Charleston flyover, nearly four miles away from the crash on the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road, during rush hour.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: “The A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road was partially blocked after the car collision, but traffic was able to move around the vehicles.
“There were tailbacks in both directions.”
A Grampian Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said two engines from Stonehaven and one from Altens were called to the car crash.
Firefighters cut off the top of the car with cutting gear to free the trapped man.
Around the same time, police and ambulance crews were called to the scene of a car crash on the northbound carriageway of the same route, the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road.
Paramedics treated a woman for minor injuries at the scene of the one-car crash, which left the A90 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road partially blocked.
Ambulance crews were also called to the A96 Aberdeen to Keith road at Huntly after another crash.
They treated a man at the scene of the one-car crash, but he did not need any hospital treatment.
Police were also called to the incident, which happened at 4.40pm.
In another car crash, a man walked away without any injuries after his black Volkswagon Golf left a road near Newmachar.
The car crash on an unclassified road which leads from the A947 to the Newmachar Golf Club, known as the Swailend road, happened at 11.45pm yesterday.
And a woman escaped injury after her car careered off a road near Oldmeldrum.
The car crash, which happened at 12.15am today, saw the 19-year-old’s Vauxhall Corsa leave an unclassified road near Barra Woodlands.
Police were called out to the car crash, but ambulance crews were not needed.
