United accept £80m Real bid for Ronaldo

Portuguese winger requests move

Published:

MANCHESTER United today accepted a stunning world record £80 million bid from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The deal would shatter the current record which was set just two days ago with Kaka’s £59m moved from AC Milan to Real.

The Portuguese winger has made no secret of his desire to one day move to the Bernabeu.

Real president Florentino Perez vowed earlier this week to do “everything possible” to take the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu.

A United statement read: “Manchester United have received a world record, unconditional offer of £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

“At Cristiano's request – who has again expressed his desire to leave – and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

“Matters are expected to be concluded by June 30.”
