AN ABERDEEN dog owner today spoke of her shock after her pet Doberman bit a boy on the face.

Melanie Kelly was stunned when she heard her two-year-old pet Doberman dog, Thor, had lashed out at the boy.

Mrs Kelly, from Bucksburn, said: “I am concerned about the boy.

“We have had the dog since he was a pup and he has never shown any aggression.

The 31-year-old nurse said she had tied the dog up outside the shop on Sclattie Park, Bucksburn, before the incident happened.

She added: “I heard shouting outside and then the boy came in holding his face.

“I was too busy trying to help the boy.

“Someone said they had seen the boy hanging onto my dog around his neck before it had happened.”

Police were called to the scene after the dog bite, which happened outside the Sclattie Park store in Bucksburn at 3.30pm on Wednesday.

The boy suffered injuries to his face and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.

A Grampian Police spokesman confirmed the investigation into the dog attack was continuing today.

He said: “We would like to ask anyone who may have witnessed the dog attack to come forward to help us build a clear picture of what happened.”

He also said today no decision has been taken on whether the dog will be put down.
