TWO of the stars of hit TV show Strictly Come Dancing have shown off their fancy footwork at the Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.

Brian Fortuna and Kristina Rihanoff were part of the Strictly Ballroom show whose performers wowed fans with classic dances including salsa and mambo.

And the Strictly Come Dancing duo have taught the nation and even the likes of John Sergeant to dance – and now it was Aberdeen’s turn.

The two Strictly Come Dancing stars led some of the best-known names on the TV show, Brian Fortuna partnered actress and presenter Kelly Brook and Kristina Rihanoff partnered journalist John Sergeant – who caused a sensation when the public loved his lack of dancing ability.

The sell-out Strictly Ballroom show is part of a year of events to celebrate the Beach Ballroom’s 80th birthday. It also featured dance performances from UK closed professional Latin champions Alex Ivanets and Lisa Bellinger-Ivanets and UK and British Amateur Ballroom Champions Marco Cavallaro and Joanne Clifton.

The dancers were accompanied by music from leading ballroom dance troupe the Ross Mitchell Band and Singers.

The Aberdeen ballroom, which opened its doors in May 1929, is famed for its floating dance floor which is on fixed steel springs to give the dancers extra bounce.

Aberdeen City Council is due to spend £590,000 revamping the Beach Ballroom’s floor, the first major work at the venue in 50 years.
