Mr Wu: George Street, Aberdeen

AFTER a long day at work, the chances of me cooking were slimmer than Kate Moss’ pinkie. On a diet.

So takeaway it was, and we were quickly wooed by Mr Wu’s offer of free home delivery for orders over £15.

Offering a wide choice of Chinese, Thai and European food, my girlfriend and I plumped for set meal B (£11 per head).

The starter combo offered tastes of satay beef, pork wonton, salt and pepper chilli chicken and aromatic duck, all of which was neither too greasy nor too bland.

Beef in black bean sauce is one of my favourites and it didn’t disappoint, with tender chunks of meat in the rich, thick sauce.

My girlfriend was a big fan of the honey chilli chicken, which was nice and sticky, with the sweet and savoury flavours working beautifully together.

There was also a real taste of honey – not always a given with this dish.

With two cartons of yung-chow fried rice, there was no chance of us having room for the king prawn with cashew nuts, which duly made its way into the fridge for the next day.
