ON A cold night, the cosiness oozing out of Ma Cameron’s was too alluring to simply walk past.
Inside, the busy bar showed no sign of the credit crunch.
Students and shoppers alike tucked into food and caught up over drinks.
We ordered the flat mushroom with melted cheese and salad (£4.50) for a shared starter.
The simple dish worked well with two giant mushrooms, melted cheddar spilling over the sides and salsa on top.
The side salad was ample and had a moreish ranch dressing.
Next, I opted for a chicken Caesar salad (£6.95), a satisfying dish laden with tasty chargrilled chicken pieces, grated parmesan and large garlicky croutons.
In fact I would go as far as to say that it’s the best Caesar salad I’ve had.
However my friend’s macaroni cheese (£6.45) was a bit disappointing.
The thick layer of melted cheese on top held promise for the fromage fiend. Yet when she dug underneath, the macaroni lacked a creamy sauce.
Luckily the shared chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream (£3.50) made up for it.
The warm sponge, gooey chocolate sauce and creamy vanilla ice cream were a divine and decadent combination.
We looked so sophisticated, as we scraped the plate for the last dribbles of sauce.
