FORMARTINE United midfielder Scott Morrison’s season is over after a bone-crunching challenge left him with a broken left leg and right wrist.

The 17-year-old suffered the horrific injuries during Formartine’s quarter-final victory in the GA Engineering Cup at Dundee Violet following a challenge by the home side’s keeper.

United went on to book their place in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over their Tayside rivals.

But Scott wasn’t able to enjoy the success. He said: “I was chasing a through ball and their keeper came right through me.

“People at the game thought he deserved a red card for the challenge, but we didn’t even get a free-kick.”

Scott’s wrist was broken in two places following the challenge and he is awaiting further tests to discover whether it requires to be operated on, which has in turn caused the cancellation of a family holiday to Florida.

He said: “We were meant to be leaving last Friday, but because I might need this operation we decided to cancel it.

“We were all annoyed about it, but my family have been very supportive of me.”
