THE steeple-topped Cocket Hat is a landmark in Mastrick – just off the busy North Anderson Drive.
For anyone laden down with kids it also offers the Funky Forest, a fantastic play area for the young ones.
And the food? That got the thumbs up too.
I plumped for the spicy veggie burger which came accompanied with chips.
Packed full of zing, my burger was not the normal run-of-the-mill veggie option.
Normally they can be bland but this was packed full of taste.
Loaded with peppers, the burger was spicy but the taste was not overwhelming.
It came in a toasted bun and was quickly polished off.
My only gripe is that there could have been more chips.
My friend went for the Gammon steak which came with either pineapple or two fried eggs.
She opted for the eggs, although they were overcooked. One quick taste and they were pushed to the side of the plate and not touched again.
But the gammon was mighty tender and came in a large portion that she struggled to finish.
And when I went up to pay for the meal, I was hit with a pleasant surprise, the dishes were part of an ongoing deal.
For two hearty dishes the price was just £10.
With a pint of lager and a pot of tea too, the bill came in at a very acceptable £14.15.
