Subway: Union Street, Aberdeen

SANDWICH-SPECIALIST Subway has had a place in my heart since my student days.

It kept me fed when I couldn’t cook and saved me from some of the worst hangovers.

And after nearly a year of not indulging in a Subway treat, I realised it was time to revisit.

I had a sweet onion chicken teriyaki sub with onions, jalapenos, hot chilli and ranch sauce.

The burning heat of the chilli combination was subdued by the creamy ranch dressing, but it still packed more than a flavourful punch.

My friend opted for a veggie patty with all the salad and ranch sauce.

She found the filling patty and crunchy veg made it much more appetising than your average sandwich.

We both opted for a meal deal (£5), and shared a delicious raisin and oatmeal cookie (59p).

It’s said that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and as I devoured the delicious sandwich that saying has never rung more true.
