Nawaabs: Summer Street, Aberdeen

STAYING where I do, most takeaway calls revolve around the sentence: “No, that road does exist. I know because I live there.”
So I took it as a positive sign when Nawaabs found me first time.
And when I took a bite of my exceptional lamb vindaloo (£6.25), I knew I was right to trust them.
The fiery sauce was perfect. A massive chilli kick surprisingly didn’t overpower the more subtle sweet cinnamon and sharp lemon flavours.
Equally as impressive, was the chicken pathia the missus chose (£6.25). Sweet, sour and wonderfully smoky, it left my beloved wondering whether she could just order the sauce in future.
An iron-rich saag aloo (£2.95) was given a lift with heaps of fresh coriander and spring onion, making the usually stodgy dish sing with freshness.
With a light and fluffy pilau rice (£2.10), garlic naan (£2.50) and two poppadoms (75p each), I knew this would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
