Video: 15 Canmore Gardens, Kingseat, Newmachar
Great spot for families with walks nearby

THIS fine home in family-friendly Newmachar has been ideal for each one of the Moirs – not least of all their dog, Alfie.
The energetic pet – a working cocker spaniel – needs a lot of exercise every day. So living somewhere with access to good walking routes has been essential.
“We live very close to the Kingseat Mile which is great for taking the dog along,” said mum-of-two Amanda, 38.
“It’s really handy as we just come out our house, go down a little path and into the woods.
“There are lots of options for walking there, including down by the railway line.”
Amanda, who works part-time as a business travel consultant for QA Business Travel, bought the house with her husband, 38-year-old Barry, a director of an oil service company, almost two years ago.
Both are originally from Aberdeen, and parents to Erin, 9, and Connor, 4. They were keen to stay somewhere with a country feel – yet not too far from the city.
The couple thought they had found the perfect place when they saw the new homes being built at Kingseat, Newmachar.
The plots were all spoken for but they put their name down for a cancellation and were delighted when one came up.
Amanda, who grew up in Northfield, said: “We were attracted to this house because of the cul-de-sac location really.
“There is no through traffic and it’s very child-friendly.
“It’s also extremely quiet which is a bonus. We wanted to be somewhere that was within a good commuting distance of the city and Dyce, and this was ideal.”
The house is decorated throughout in classic neutral decor, perfect for showing off stylish furniture.
And for people who enjoy cooking and spending time in the kitchen – this property will be ideal.
The kitchen is stunning, in warm shades of walnut and soft caramel and with French doors leading out to the back garden.
It also has a breakfast bar – great for family life – and there is a separate dining room.
Amanda and Barry laid flooring and carpets throughout the house when they moved in, but opted to keep the classic look of the decor.
And they have found a further practical bonus from the integrated garage – if they come in from walking Alfie with mucky shoes on, they enter the house via the garage and leave them there.
Amanda said: “My favourite rooms are the sitting room and kitchen, because they are at the back of the house.
“The back garden is west facing, which means the sun streams in the windows from late morning onwards. We spend a lot of time together in those rooms.”
The animal-loving clan is now on the lookout for a house with its own field as Amanda has a horse, called Diago, and Erin has a pony called Hattie, who are both currently in livery nearby.
Amanda added: “We don’t want to leave the catchment area. So we won’t really be going too far – just somewhere with a bit of extra land.”
