Joe is the best in my eyes

FORGET Rocky Balboa. Joe Calzaghe is my boxing hero.
And, unlike Sly Stallone’s punch-drunk creation, Calzaghe will not be returning to the ring.
Rocky has made more comebacks than a three-day-old vindaloo.
Even at the end of his career Rocky was in great shape, every artery in his body was hard.
But Calzaghe has decided to retire at the top, undefeated in 46 fights.
Shame other boxers didn’t leave the ring earlier.
Human punchbag Reggie Strickland boasts the dubious honour of holding the worst pro record of 66 wins, 17 draws and 274 defeats.
Poor Reggie has been on the canvas more times than Picasso during his blue period.
In his last fight his opponent had to stop punching – his hands were too sore.
He was so far behind on points he had to knock-out his opponent just to get a draw.
It was refreshing to see Calzaghe turn down the lure of more big money.
And in an era where cash talks and integrity walks, AC Milan’s Kaka also deserves credit for snubbing Manchester City’s £100 million offer.
The Sky Blues are now the English Premier League’s laughing stock.
Manager Mark Hughes was recently in a building society ready to withdraw more millions to make an extortionate offer for a player.
Suddenly, a gunman burst through the door demanding money.
Brave Sparky attempted to tackle the raider, but was knocked over.
As he fell, his head hit the counter and was out cold.
The robber escaped and the cashier tried to revive Hughes.
After a few minutes he came round and muttered: “Where the hell am I?”
“Don't worry, its ok, you're in the Nationwide.”
“Is it May already?” replied Hughes.
Manchester City have always been chaotic behind the scenes.
When Sven Goran Eriksson was appointed manager at City two seasons ago, 17-year-old Christina Tambaros received a text offering her an Inter Milan player for free.
She also received several messages congratulating her on getting the Man City job.
After making a few inquiries, the puzzled student realised she had been assigned Sven’s old mobile telephone number after he quit the England post.
After the high expectancy for this season City have been a flop.
They were set to announce a new sponsor for 2010 – Pollyfilla in the hope they don’t crack-up again next season.
Instead the club are set to leave their home shirts blank.
The designer got the idea from looking at their trophy cabinet.
City are not the only ones splashing out money, Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has bought a seaside hotel in Portugal.
The five-star hotel has a swimming pool with four towering spring boards.
Apparently it is over-rated and over-priced, but ideal for people who like diving.
The hotel is situated in the wilderness of Portugal and is ideal for hunting.
A few of Ronaldo’s friends were out in the woods when one of them suddenly fell to the ground..
Panic set in, his friend wasn’t breathing.
Whipping out his mobile phone he called the emergency services.
He gasped to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?”
The operator, in a calm, soothing voice said: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead.”
There was silence, then a shot was heard.
His voice comes back on the line, “OK, now what?”
