JUST one look was all it took for Steve Brown, partner Sue Bettinson and her dad Tom to fall in love with this stunning property.

At that time they were planning to move from their home in Kemnay, which stood in 22 acres.

Sue, 58, a full-time carer for her dad, said: “When dad came to live with us we decided to move to something a bit smaller.

“It was while we were out for a drive on a Sunday afternoon that we decided to take a look around Turriff.

“That’s when we saw Hopefield and the three of us just fell in love with it instantly.”

With four acres of land it provided plenty of space for their pet spaniels Daisy and Kate, and German shepherd Tammy.

The couple and Tom moved into Hopefield two years ago and have all enjoyed its tranquil and quiet surroundings.

Sue said: “It’s a lovely big family bungalow and all the rooms are so spacious.

“Every room is a light room, there’s not a dark area anywhere.

“When we moved in there was a lot needing done to the house. The work has been ongoing.”

Sue and driving instructor Steve, 59, ripped out the old kitchen and fitted a modern, sleek range of cream base and wall units.

They also added more radiators, replaced the heating boiler and added an en-suite for dad.

Hopefield is a lovely property sitting in an elevated position within extensive grounds.

From most windows there are lovely views out across the garden and countryside beyond.

This particularly applies to the large bright lounge which has a bay window and a side window.

Double doors lead into the cosy family room which has a living flame gas fire.

In here, Tom has claimed an area near the large square bay window. It’s where he likes to sit and read his papers and magazines. It’s also where they all like to relax with the dogs at the end of the day

They totally transformed the kitchen which houses a large dining table for informal meals.

The formal dining room is spacious and will easily accommodate large pieces of furniture. Patio doors open on to a patio area.

The huge master bedroom with en-suite shower room is light and airy with plenty of space for free-standing furniture.

The second bedroom also has an en-suite shower room.

Bedrooms three and four have built-in wardrobes and wash-hand basins.

There is also a utility room, study, bathroom and cloakroom.

Hopefield was built 14 years ago and at that time the owners planted about 100 trees around the grounds which are now quite mature.

Sue said: “When we moved in the garden was mainly grass and trees.

“We fenced off along the roadside and removed a few of the trees which were blocking the view.

“Some more trees were added where we wanted them and we did a big tidy up. We also fenced off a large area – about an acre – which I call my garden.

“Among other things it houses a vegetable patch, flower garden, two greenhouses and a patio area for alfresco dining.

“It’s absolutely wonderful living here and perfect for anyone who likes peace and quiet,” said Sue. “It’s a very happy house.”

The couple are now on the look out for a property closer to a town such as Turriff or Inverurie, as Tom, 88, is missing out on the company of people his own age.
