Khyber Pass: Spital, Aberdeen

AFTER a hard workout at the gym, you deserve a good feed – and what better than a fine curry.
The Khyber was a favourite from my student days, so I decided to return to my former haunt.
I opted for the chicken vindaloo (£5.20) and was rewarded with a hot and flavoursome dish.
Unfortunately, the chilli blast rather overpowered some of the other, subtler flavours. But I had no complaints about the plentiful, tender chicken.
My friend had decided to give the vegetable achari (£6.99) a go. It’s tangy taste came with an array of crunchy veg as well speciality onions and crystallised lime. Rich and tomato-ey – perhaps too much so – the sauce was lifted by a ginger tang.
We rounded off our feed with a delightfully-sweetish Peshwari naan, a too dry garlic naan and perfectly cooked boiled rice.
For a total of £18.69, we were well chuffed – and stuffed – after our feast.
