Stunning panoramic views from property

WHEN Lindsey Thomson and her late husband Brian stepped into this charming country property they knew instantly that they had to have it.
Lindsey, 43, said: “We had looked at lots of houses and were absolutely fed up viewing properties.
“We had almost made up our minds to buy a new build at Belhelvie but hadn’t yet signed on the dotted line. I had the schedule for this house but we hadn’t gone to see it because it was more than we thought we could afford.”
But they did go to see it ... and were glad they did.
“As soon as we walked in the front door we fell in love with it,” Lindsey said.
“I’d never felt that way before. This was our dream house and we both said ‘We have to have it’.
“We really wanted to live in the country with a bit of land and this had it all. We loved it so much.”
This hidden countryside gem is blessed with beautiful panoramic views of Bennachie and the Ythan Estuary.
Kamiri belies the fact it was built only 14 years ago as it gives the impression it’s been around for quite some time.
Lindsey said: “This much loved house was built by its previous owners on their return from Malaysia.”
“They wanted a big house with big rooms built with traditional materials and features such as granite walls and deep sills.”
“Some of the granite used comes from the cottage that was originally on the site.”
From the outside Kamiri looks very traditional but inside it is beautiful, elegant and modern.
The couple moved into their new home in 2003.
Lindsey said: “I remember one day standing at the top of the drive, looking back at the house and thinking `is this all mine’?”
With 12 acres of land the gardens are beautifully landscaped with trees, a pond and huge areas of lawn.
Laughing, Lindsey said: “The first thing we had to buy was a sit-on mower to cut the grass.”
A large patio area runs along the back and side of the house.
Inside the decor had been good condition but Lindsey and Brian wanted to put their own stamp on it.
They replaced the kitchen, bathroom suite, put in a new Cotswold stone fireplace and decorated throughout.
Lindsey’s style is cool and contemporary and she has used neutral shades on the walls.
Measuring a whopping 30ft`1in x 19ft 3in the lounge/dining/ cinema room is extremely elegant and one of Lindsey’s favourites. Large windows fill the room with light and the Cotswold stone fireplace is a lovely feature.
“It’s a great room for entertaining and my friends and I pile in there to watch films on the cinema screen.”
And the huge kitchen/breakfast room is a also a popular spot.
“You can be cooking and still chat away to friends.”
With three walls of glass the conservatory is the perfect place to relax and enjoy stunning views. Also on this floor is a lovely bright family room, toilet and utility room.
Upstairs there are six huge, bright and airy bedrooms and a large family bathroom.
One of the bedrooms has been turned into a reading room with built-in shelving.
One of the appealing things about Kamiri is that every room has a different outlook.
Lindsey absolutely loves her house but feels now is the time for her to move on and downsize.
Lindsey is retaining seven acres of the land and she and partner Graeme Fullerton, an engineer, are renovating an old steading and intend moving into it.
